PTO Meeting
2-7-12

President Katharina Mascareno called the meeting to order. The minutes from the past meeting were read and approved.

Treasurer’s report:
• Receipts of $281.80 – Box Tops through October
• Expenses of $41.89 for Box Top totes for classrooms and bags for Capri Sun collection.
• The ending balance for the month is $3,191.73.

Box Tops/Capri Suns:
• Box Tops were collected last week and we are waiting on a final count for December/January.
• We have $42.16 in the Capri Sun account with several garbage bags more to clean and send in.

Old Business:
• Family Game Night was held on January 20th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. with approximately 65 students plus families in attendance.
o Doorprize winners:

 Mariah Brasch – Mrs. Kahle’s class
 Katie Christner – Mrs. Olsen’s class
 Yamilia Lockwood – Mrs. Koehn’s class

 Jayden Baldwin – Mrs. Belton’s class
 Tristyn Killer – Mrs. Gutsch’s class
 Lela McIntire – Mrs. Garrard’s class
 Allie Hird – Mrs. Kickhaefer’s class
 Gene Hanson – Mrs. Christner’s class
 Kloie McIntyre – Mrs. Bettles’ class
 Emilie Roe – Mrs. Patterson’s class
 Grand Prize – Courtney Cook
o Mrs. Christner’s class won for the most students in attendance. They will receive a class treat.

New Business:
• Dr Seuss’ birthday will be celebrated during the week of February 27-March 2. PTO has organized an activity and treat to be given to all the students each day of that week.
o Monday – Cat in the Hat – Wear a hat to school; PTO will hand out pencils.
o Tuesday – The Foot Book/Red Fish Blue Fish – Wear crazy/mismatched socks or shoes to school; PTO will hand out Goldfish crackers for a snack.
o Wednesday – Wacky Wednesday – Wear crazy/backwards clothes to school; PTO will give out Dr. Seuss silly bands.
o Thursday – My Many Colored Days- Each grade will wear a certain color
 Kind. – green
 1st- black
 2nd – red
 3rd – purple
 4th- orange
 5th- blue
 PTO will hand out Skittles/Starburst
o Friday – Oh the Places You’ll Go…In your dreams – Wear pajamas to school; PTO will hand out Dr. Seuss bookmarks.
o Volunteers will also be asked to come in to read to students during their lunch recesses.
• Parent/Teacher conferences are next week. PTO will provide the meal on Tuesday, February 14th. Pizza, fruits and veggies, and dessert will be provided for the teachers with a Valentine theme.
• The Herington Municipal Foundation asked PTO to be in charge of children’s games at their 3rd Annual Spring Fling. PTO declined the offer due to lack of help to supervise the games.
• PTO agreed to make a candy bouquet to give to Mrs. Stilwell for Counselor Appreciation Week. Kara and Katharina will create the bouquet and present it to Mrs. Stilwell.
